Starting a new business can be thrilling, but let's be real - it comes with its own set of challenges. As a new business owner, you have a million things on your plate. Oftentimes, trying to make your brand shine online without shelling out too much of your hard-earned cash is one of them. You might not have the luxury of time to build your site from scratch, so what's the alternative? Enter the one-page website. A one-page website consists of having all of the information about your brand and services on one single page. It’s like a digital brochure. There's no need for hunting around different sections or tabs like 'Home', 'About', or 'Services', and bouncing between pages - it's all there on one easy-to-navigate page. You just scroll to uncover all the different parts, just like flicking through a brochure. It’s the ideal choice for new business owners seeking to establish a solid online presence without investing a fortune in web development.

In this blog post, I'll delve deeper into why this option could be your best bet, covering its numerous advantages ranging from cost-effectiveness, simplicity, and mobile-friendliness, to higher conversion rates and user engagement.

1. One-page websites are more affordable for a new business owner

I touched on this earlier but I will do it again. Opting to start with a one-page website is extremely cost-effective. Forget the cost and complexity of multi-page sites. New entrepreneurs need a streamlined, professional online space to showcase their brand. A one-page website wraps all essentials - your intro, services, testimonials, and contact info - into a user-friendly package. Quick to create and easy to maintain, it saves time, and costs and leaves resources for other crucial aspects of business. All in all, a savvy budget-friendly move for a strong online presence.

2. One-page websites have higher conversion rates

Conversion rates are calculated by taking the number of conversions (when a visitor to your website completes a desired goal) and dividing it by the number of total ad interactions. Across industries, the average landing page conversion rate was 2.35% and between 2% and 5% is generally considered a “good” conversion rate.

One of the benefits of a one-page website is that all your traffic is going to a single place. If you’re attempting to make a sale, there are fewer places to distract your potential client, and this often results in higher conversion rates.

3. One-page websites are mobile-friendly

All websites should have a mobile-responsive design that allows users to view them on mobile phones or tablets. Why? Mobile devices drove 61% of visits to U.S. websites in 2020 and this percentage increased from 57% in 2019. If you want to remain relevant online, you must keep mobile visitors (the majority of all visitors!) in mind.

The good news is that mobile users tend to have a better experience when there’s only one page on the website. Even if they have to scroll to view content, this is generally easier than having to use a hamburger menu to switch pages. When everything is in one place to view, your user will find everything they need and help you meet your goals (whether that’s driving traffic, engaging prospects, generating leads, purchasing products/services, etc.).

4. One-page websites don’t take long to create

Are you looking to instantly create credibility for your business? A website is a way to do it. Without a website, potential customers will question whether you’re a legitimate business. If nothing comes up on Google when they search your name, then that’s an immediate red flag, and they’ll wonder whether you’re a real business or not.

Fortunately, it doesn’t take much time to create a one-page website. Building a complex multi-page website can take months. However, a one-page, responsive website will only take a few days to create. Comparatively speaking, this helps you get a site up within a week and boosts awareness of your company.

5. One-page websites are easier to maintain and make changes

Any time something needs to be fixed, adjusted, added, or removed, it’s all on one page. This streamlines the process and makes it possible for you to maintain your site, even if you’re not fluent in web design yourself. If you need a simple, inexpensive website that you hope to maintain yourself as a business owner, this is the way to go!

Final thoughts

Do you think that a one-page website fits with the goals of your business and brand? I recommend this route if you’re just getting started and need to get something up as soon as possible. This is also a great choice for business owners who only need a simple website to display their offerings. It’ll be easy to create and modify, and it won’t break the bank!
